Religious Education

At Ewhurst CE Infant School RE is taught accordance with the Guildford Diocesan Guidelines recognising the School’s special character as a Church of England Aided School.  It is taught alongside the school’s vision and values developing the strong links between Religious Education, Personal and Social Education and Spiritual, Moral and Cultural Education, in ways which are appropriate for pupils aged 4 – 7.  This approach helps pupils to develop a positive attitude towards other people, respecting their right to hold different beliefs from their own.

Our children are taught RE in units of work as outlined by the Guildford Diocese, we also include a whole school Easter Pause Morning.  Children learn about three religions and learn from religious teaching.  Off site visits to our parish Church and Guildford Cathedral are part of the curriculum.

Our children will develop the skills to consider the information they are learning about and reflect on how they wish to live their life.  Their knowledge of our three different religions will help them show respect and understand others.  will help them live happily in today’s world.  Using our School Values will develop a strong moral code to help them develop the skills to work alongside all people.  We know we have achieved this when children enjoy RE, want to know more and leave Ewhurst as confident learners.
